how to organize a home jewelry business

hi. i’m lorie marrero, creator of the clutterdiet book and on-line program, and today i’m going to share with you the dirty little secretof professional organizers, and that is that we do not always have all of the answers andwe do not always know what the finished product is going to look like when we start an organizingproject. we do, however, have the confidence to jump into the project and know that wecan solve it just like a puzzle, and that’s what you can do too. you jump [pop] into somethingthe same way you would a puzzle knowing that you can absolutely solve this but you don’tknow exactly how until you start moving things around and doing the solving. so i wanted to share with you an example frommy own house that happened recently that was

almost exactly like solving a puzzle. youmight remember as a child solving these 15 puzzles – as i’m showing on the screenhere – where you have one little open space and then you shift all the tiles around tryingto move this one here and this one here and move them all into the right spots by usingthat open space strategically to shift things around. so you may have put everything awayin your home in a place, things might have a home, but they might not have the righthome, and this is what happened to me recently. when i moved in, my linen closet in my secondbathroom had a lot of extra shelving and i used it as overflow storage space for someextra board games that i was keeping, and that was okay, and they had a home, and thatwas nice. but it wasn’t really the right

home, and every time i opened the linen closetdoor i thought, “i really don’t like those games being in here.” and also recentlyi opened up a trunk and there were blankets stored in it and they had a little bit ofa mildew smell and i thought, “you know this trunk is probably not the right homefor these blankets.” so i realized also that i had this armoire that wasn’t quiteright either and i thought, “you know what, the right home for these particular itemsis another place in the house and i need to do a little bit of a 15-puzzle shuffle sothat i can get this all feeling better. so the first thing you do is figure out what’sbothering you, then you need to figure out what the right home is for those objects,even if that right home is already occupied

by something else, and then you need to geta staging area as an open space just like the puzzle so that you can pull somethingout of one area, put it in the staging area, and start to do the shift. and then you justwade in [pop] like any other puzzle and solve it until it’s done. so you can do this too. just know that anyprofessional organizer is just like you. we’re just going to jump in and solve it, get ourfeet wet and figure it out, and that’s exactly the approach that you can have as well. andif you do get stuck, that’s what we’re here for. since 2006 we’ve been helpingpeople in our member message board area. we’ve helped thousands of people in 18 countries,and we can help you too. you can check us
